ਸਰਹਿੰਦ ਵਚਿ 1705 ਦੀ ਕੜਾਕੇ ਦੀ ਸਰਦੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਮਾਤਾ ਗੁਜਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਸਾਹਬਿਜ਼ਾਦੇ, ਬਾਬਾ ਜ਼ੋਰਾਵਰ ਸਿੰਘ (9 ਸਾਲ) ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਫਤਿਹ ਸਿੰਘ (6 ਸਾਲ) ਨੂੰ ਠੰਡੇ ਬੁਰਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੈਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਜਿਥੇ ਹਿਮਾਲਾ ਪਰਬਤ ਵਲੋਂ ਵਗਦੀਆਂ ਸੀਤ ਹਵਾਵਾਂ ਠੰਢ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਕੋਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਵਾਧਾ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
ਅਗਲੇ ਦਨਿ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਵਾਬ ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ਖਾਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਯੋਜਤਿ ਇੱਕ ਖਤਰਨਾਕ ਮੁਕੱਦਮੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਆਿ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ, ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ਖਾਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਪਛਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਆਿਗਣ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੋਸ਼ਸਿ਼ਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਸੀਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਧਮਕੀ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਇਸਲਾਮ ਕਬੂਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਏਗਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਇਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।
ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ਖਾਨ ਨੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਸਾਹਬਿਜ਼ਾਦਆਿਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਛੋਟੇ ਜਹਿੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਚਹਰਿੀ ਵਚਿ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਅਣਜਾਣੇ ਵਚਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਝੁਕ ਜਾਣ। ਸਆਿਣਪ ਅਤੇ ਅਵੱਗਆਿ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਹ ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਵੱਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰਿ ਝੁਘਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ, ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਡਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਲਿਾਂ ਪੈਰ ਰੱਖਕੇ ਕਚਹਿਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਏ।
